On coding, tech, privacy, AI and whatever else comes to this mind.

My favourite feature of bringing Longplay to the Mac is making it integrate and interoperate with other Mac tools. iOS has Shortcuts, which is great, but things go so much deeper on the Mac with AppleScript and now also .

It's so quick to triggering specific albums quickly through Alfred, and Claude can be useful for organising my albums, like asking it to look at the albums that I haven't yet added to any collection and suggest which albums fit well into any of my collections, and then file those where I agree.

I just *adore* controlling Longplay through Claude. It's like talking to a DJ that knows your taste. (Claude Desktop pails in comparison to the ChatGPT Mac app though; can't wait for that to gain MCP support.)

User: Play that one republic album

Claude after using play_album tool: Perfect! I've started playing OneRepublic's "Artificial Paradise (Deluxe)" from 2024. The album is now playing, starting with the opening track "Artificial Paradise." This 47-minute album with 18 tracks should give you a good pop experience to contrast with all that alternative rock you've been listening to lately!

User: Play something more rocky next

Claude after using play_album tool: Great choice! I've queued up Franz Ferdinand's "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand" to play next. This 2008 alternative rock album has a solid 4-star rating in your library and will give you that rockier sound you're looking for. Once the OneRepublic album finishes, you'll get those driving Franz Ferdinand rhythms and guitar work that made them indie rock favorites. The contrast should be perfect!
