• It's a shame that the plug is being pulled on LiveView Native. It was a promising approach for server-driven UI using my beloved #Elixir and #Phoenix. The real-time updates and no need for app updates were in many ways quicker to prototype than regular SwiftUI previews. (Though the macro-heavy and auto-generated code had horrible compile times.)

  I found the overall concept compelling though and shall explore more light-weight alternatives like DivKit now.

  Interesting details from Brian Cardarella with Jose Valim chiming in saying how LiveView is meant for HTML and they won’t budge, which is ultimately the death kneel for LiveView Native:

• I've been interested in #Elixir (and #Phoenix) for a long time but have only dipped my toes in it so far. Diving into it for a new project now and loving it so far. Just finished Phoenix in Action and next are a trio of books by @pragprog.

  

• I wonder if anyone else has a single repo with a mix of these languages.

  The main web app is written in #Elm, with an #Elixir / Phoenix wrapper for additional pages, and the main logic is provided by an AWS Lambda written in #Swift (sharing the same code with the iOS/macOS app). Was a fun and rewarding challenge building this. Elixir will likely grow and take a bite out of Elm.
